Frequently Asked Questions

Our friendly and courteous staff hear the questions below all the time. We thought that by putting the questions on the site, we might help you understand the auction a little better.

* Is Mason Dixon Auto Auction only for dealers?

Mason Dixon is a public auto auction and welcomes both dealers and public buyers and sellers.

  * When and what time is the auction held?

Mason Dixon has a sale every Tuesday evening at 5:30 P.M.

* Can I view the vehicles before the sale?

Yes, you may view the vehicles two hours before the sale starts.

* Is there a fee to bid?

If you are planning to bid on a vehicle you must have a “Buyer’s Card.”  You must purchase the “Buyer’s Card” before you bid. Your driver’s license will be required at the time of purchase. The accepted payment for a “Buyer’s Card” is cash.

* Can I bring my children?

We love children but for their safety we do not allow children under the age of 16 to attend the auction.

* What types of payments are accepted for a Public Buyer and is there a required deposit?

You must have a deposit of 30% or $400, which ever is greater if you are the successful winning bidder. At the time of signing for your winning bid at the auction block, you may use your credit card for up to $1000. When you come into the office to finalize the payment, you must have cash, certified check, or a money order.

* Are there additional fees that will be added to the purchase price?

Yes. In addition to the purchase price, you will have a "Buyer’s Fee" added and a document fee. The buyer’s fees are posted at the auction block and in the Public office. Pennsylvania residents will also be required to pay all fees for titling and registering the vehicle with the Department of Transportation in addition to the fees listed above.  Pennsylvania residents must present a Pennsylvania driver's license or a Pennsylvania issued Photo I.D. card showing the correct address.

 * Does Mason Dixon have temporary tags that will allow me to drive my vehicle home and what must I bring with me to be able to get a temporary tag?

Mason Dixon has temporary tags available to out of state purchasers. You must have a valid driver’s license and current insurance information with you.
